My Inspiration
My name is Carrie and I was born and raised in Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas. I am a mother of 5 and wife of 15 years. I love to cook for my family and my friends. My tastes are very eclectic, in that I will try just about anything. I began cooking very basic foods at age 6 on a gas range stove. I was fully supervised by my mother until she was confident I could handle the untensils and equipment without injuring myself or setting the house on fire.
My basic meals were hotdogs, boxed macaroni and fried bologna & Spam and then of course, anything else that came out of a can. It progressed from there, once I learned to read and could actually comprehend and understand measurements. My mother, my Memaw and my Aunt Catherine were instrumental in teaching me me all of the down home southern cooking that I was required to know as a southern girl. Thus, I spent a good many of years fattening up me and my husband.
Now, being 41 years old I have grown quite tired of my own cooking. In the past couple of years I have begun to change the way we eat and introduce new foods and flavors. I have a really good ability to replicate a recipe just by tasting it in a restaurant.
Often times I am asked for my recipes. This blog is dedicated to all of the things I like to cook. It is a mix of the good, the bad and the ugly. I hope you enjoy! And I hope my daughters, who have been completely disinterested in cooking, will be able to learn from me in this way. Because I am sure it will matter in their future :)
